Immediate insight into performance and control over international growth

Using smart sensors and software, Moving Intelligence secures and manages vehicle fleets. In doing so, the company is building a broad European mobility data platform. Through acquisitions, the number of products and data sources is also growing rapidly. Centralised data consolidation became a strategic priority to enable group-level management and lay the foundations for the future.

Chief Financial Officer Mark Wolfs: “We wanted a central data platform that would allow us to run analyses across all products and data sources. Previously, every analysis had to be carried out on the data sources themselves, based on data exported from them. For some products, internal reporting functionalities were built into the platform; for others, they were not. What I needed in my group role was centralised insight into how our products are performing based on uniform KPI definitions.”

A proven, bespoke solution

The right balance between a proven technology stack and strict security requirements

Moving Intelligence deliberately sought a proven, standardised approach using tools such as dbt and Dagster, supplemented by dashboarding and a cloud-based data warehouse. Mark Wolfs: “That is precisely what Blenddata offers at its core, and why it was such a good fit.”

Security requirements

“We consider information security to be of the utmost importance at Moving Intelligence. Our cloud security team therefore insisted that all data remain within our own infrastructure. This meant that all tools also had to be deployed within our own infrastructure. This required flexibility from Blenddata and close collaboration with our cloud team, but everything was up and running within a week.”

Previously, there was no comprehensive, unambiguous and up-to-date view of performance per product at group level. Data was scattered and definitions varied, making comparisons time-consuming. With a central data warehouse featuring standardised KPI definitions, there is now consistent insight into operational KPIs across all countries and products.

Proactively managing customer behaviour

Signs of churn were hidden within various products and often only came to light at a late stage. By centralising access to data, monitoring becomes proactive, risk profiles become visible, and account managers can intervene earlier and focus more effectively on retention and customer value.

A foundation for AI and further automation

The ambition extends beyond reporting. With a growing subscription model that generates data from nearly one million vehicles every day, there is a natural foundation for predictive models and further automation. The new data platform provides consistent, scalable data on which AI models can be built directly, without the need for new investment in the underlying infrastructure.

Immediate value from data

“Thanks to this platform, for example, we now have a single, clear definition of churn rather than different definitions for each product. This ensures consistent reporting and also provides better insight at group level. In addition, we now have real-time visibility of operational developments. Whereas these used to only become apparent in periodic reports, we can now make immediate adjustments. For example, you can see immediately if the number of connected vehicles at a customer’s site is falling. This allows our account managers to act on it straight away. That shifts the commercial approach from reactive to structurally proactive.”

The platform has been deliberately designed to be transferable. Moving Intelligence retains control over its own environment and can manage it itself or outsource it to another party. This flexibility makes the solution future-proof and independent. This aligns with how Blenddata develops platforms: scalable, transferable and built for the long term.

Mark on the collaboration. “Translating business logic into a data model is crucial in a project like this, and Blenddata did that well. They took the initiative on their own, referred things back to us where necessary, and kept the project moving. They are people who really know their stuff and work independently. Data engineer Rens was incredibly productive and kept the project moving forward. As a result, the timeline was never really an issue.”
